What should I do first when a pipe bursts in the building?
Close the building's main water valve, then call (416) 888-1371. In Toronto the main valve is typically on the foundation wall where the water pipe enters, just before the meter, and if it will not close, 311 can shut the water off at the property line for a fee (City of Toronto). In Mississauga, Markham and Ajax the region or town does it; their numbers are on each city page.
